RJ Stroman, Founder and CEO

RJ Stroman, a chemical manufacturing engineer and software developer by trade, developed a passion for woodworking when he set out to create his first project in 1986. In 1988, RJ bought his ShopSmith as his passion and interest in woodworking grew.

RJ wanted to make great quality woodworking projects for less than he could buy them and from local wood. RJ made Shaker furniture, bookcases, baby’s rattles, bedside tables, and his largest project was a pencil-post bed following a plan and video from Norm Abram and The New Yankee Workshop.

Later, he started woodturning salad bowls, which allowed him to recycle green logs taken down by local tree services with conscious efforts towards conservation and climate-positive action.

His hunt for woodturning abrasives at a reasonable cost to support his hobby sparked the idea for an online coated abrasives business for other craftsmen who are passionate about their craft. RJ launched 2Sand.com in 2007 as a commercial business and continues to focus on providing great sanding supplies at value prices with great service.
